To Commission a Portrait: Please read the process statement below and click on Contact tab to ask about current pricing and scheduling. The Portrait Process The artist works from photographs and sittings by the subject. The initial photo session is done with a digital camera either on location or in the artist’s studio. This session lasts an hour and a half to two hours. The artist will also do a preliminary sketch during this session. The artist will work from these photos and the preliminary sketch to develop a small idea sketch for the client to approve. Once the portrait is underway the artist may require sittings which will be arranged at the client’s convenience. Children may be entertained by a portable DVD player while the artist studies their features. Fees Portrait Cost is determined by the portion of the figure in the painting rather than the painting size. For example: Head and Shoulders, 3/4 Figure or Full Length Figure. Oil Portraits are done on Linen Pastel Portraits are done on Archival Pastel Paper. Travel and related expenses are additional charges. FramesPrices listed do not include frames. If the client wishes, the artist will be glad to assist in the frame selection. Payment Schedule A 30% payment deposit is requested with the signing of the contract and establishes a place on the artist’s waiting list/calendar. The final two thirds plus the tax on the whole, is paid at the time of delivery.
